About this deal

Inside this set is a digital tuner, with the Freeview Play service built-in. As ever, it makes for a usable EPG and a decent set of catch-up services, however, the VIDAA U4 Smart TV operating system comes up short on apps. Netflix, Prime Video and YouTube are all present, but notable absentees include Now TV, BT Sport, Apple TV, Google Play Movies & TV and Disney+. If you want more of the same but with improved local dimming and more dynamic range, then the Hisense U8K is more expensive but does offer a little more performance and we’ll have a review available as soon as we get one in.

ARRAffinity cookie is set by Azure app service, and allows the service to choose the right instance established by a user to deliver subsequent requests made by that user.Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying small white square taking up 60% of the screen (measured in Nits) There are no real shortages of LCD TVs on the market, but Mini LED tech is still fairly new and at the higher end of the market. You also want a set that handles all the available HDR formats, Dolby and dts audio as well as at least two HDMI 2.1 ports, gaming features like VRR, eARC for use with a soundbar and decent Smarts. Percentage Luminance drop at 35 degree horizontal angle from the centre of the screen with 50% white output Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying a live scene and white square taking up 10% of the screen (measured in Nits) That’s a lot of screen real estate for affordable pricing, so the performance needs to live up to the promise, a promise last year’s UK units disingenuously squandered by carrying the same SKU numbers as more impressive global models from the company before revealing themselves as under-specced. Hisense has publicly stated that this year’s U7K model is the same TV worldwide with the same features and performance. The 65-inch TV we are reviewing is a set provided by Hisense UK.

Switch to standard-def content from the built-in tuner and the Hisense copes much better, largely because the higher frame rate of the signal requires less processing from the TV, and the motion smearing issue is almost gone.when sat head on, the image performance is very good and on a par with some much more expensive peers. Moving to the Rec.709 HD colour gamut results and with the white point corrected we also have a near reference result with just two small errors seen on the graph. However, our DeltaE errors are an average of 1.73, so well below the visible threshold of three and we couldn’t see any issues with TV and film viewing. These are impressive SDR results from the Hisense. What Hi-Fi?, founded in 1976, is the world's leading independent guide to buying and owning hi-fi and home entertainment products. If you are an enthusiast you will be aware of the downfalls with LCD technologies and using them in a dark room, and there is no difference here, but as a living room workhorse the Hisense is very good indeed. The vast majority of consumers will never push the U7QF hard enough to really find all the niggles we did and as such it will be a perfect choice for many. Viewing angles do mean it isn’t really suited to those sitting well off-axis, but when sat head on the image performance is very good and on a par with some much more expensive peers.

Considering it's one of Hisense’s top-end TVs, there's no getting around the fact that the 55U7QFTUK is a disappointment. The U7 Series is getting significant upgrades for 2023. The newly added Mini-LED technology increases the dimming zones compared to last year by more than a factor of 10 (55" (65"x7.5). Hisense TVs are capable of reproducing over one billion different shades of colour, allowing you to enjoy colour in its most authentic and genuine form. The Hisense U7QF is a very good midrange LED LCD that uses Quantum Dot technology and also has Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG and HDR10 capabilities along with Dolby Atmos sound onboard. The smart TV system is intuitive and fast with a decent selection of apps as well as Freeview Play and all the UK catch-up services. Gaming input lag is also decent at 17ms but it doesn’t have all the HDMI 2.1 goods for VRR or ALLM.
